Gurugram, August 1
An alert was sounded on leakage of ‘ammonia’ gas at an apparel dying factory in Kadipur industrial area of Sector10 in Gurugram on Thursday. However, no loss to human life or injury was reported in the incident.
Officials of the local police, fire brigade, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Civil Defence rushed to the spot soon after receiving the information of gas leakage. Area residents informed the local police about the same after a ‘foul’ smell of some gas was emanated.
As a precautionary measure, the entire area was evacuated by the NDRF team. The police sealed the premises of the factory. Preliminary investigations revealed that the leakage of gas occurred from a tank.
Locals staying close to the factory area started sensing the gas leakage early in the morning, but the police and the fire department got information about the same at 11.30 am.
A few readings and samples of gas leakage were collected from the spot to find out the exact composition and intensity of the gas. Meanwhile, the local police have summoned the factory owner to record his statement and further investigations were in progress.
