A team of the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), held an anti-encroachment drive on the workshop road in Yamunanagar today. The team razed platforms/extensions built in front of shops in Meera Bai Market during the drive. The team also issued challans to three shopkeepers for littering in the open.

According to information, on the instructions of MC Commissioner Akhil Pilani, a team headed by Chief Sanitary Inspector Anil Nain inspected the area near Parshuram Chowk on the workshop road in Yamunanagar.

On seeing the MC team, several traders themselves shifted their goods kept on the road inside their shops. The MC team removed encroachments from both sides of the road in the area falling under Ward No. 16 and 20.

During the drive, the MC team caught a shopkeeper dumping garbage in the open and issued challan to him on the spot. The team also issued challans to two more shopkeepers for discarding garbage in the open.

“The MC is taking strict action against those persons, who encroach roads and those who throw garbage in the open,” said Anil Nain.

He told shopkeepers that encroachments narrowed roads, leading to traffic jams and curtailed movement of pedestrians. He said no shopkeeper should encroach roads, keeping in mind the problems faced by residents.
