Two held with 680-gm heroin in Yamunanagar

A team of the Anti-Narcotics Cell has recovered 680 grams of heroin (smack) allegedly from possession of two persons Alladiya of Atma Puri Colony (Old Hamida area) of Yamunanagar and Amjad of Kamala Colony of Saharanpur city (Uttar Pradesh).The estimated market price of the consignment is Rs 50 lakh.

Chamkaur Singh, a police spokesperson, said Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal had instructed the district police to take strict action against drug smugglers and following his instructions, the district police were continuously taking action against the drug smugglers. Arun Kumar, in-charge of the Anti-Narcotics Cell, said on a secret information, his team arrested Alladiya and Amjad with 680 grams of heroin from near Kalanaur village, situated on the Haryana and Uttar Pradesh border.

“Seeing their suspicious activities, the police caught them from near Kalanaur village by putting up a barricade. Both were searched in the presence of Duty Magistrate DSP (Headquarters) Kamaljit Singh. During the search, 680 grams of heroin was recovered from them,” said Arun Kumar.

He said accused Alladiya and Amjad were arrested and a case was registered against them.He said they were produced in a court in Jagadhri, where Alladiya was sent to judicial custody and Amjad was sent to three days police custody.He said there were already seven criminal cases, including four cases of drug trafficking registered against Alladiya.

He further said a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) was registered against Amjad in Uttar Pradesh. He added that he was wanted in a drug smuggling case in Yamunanagar since 2024. Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal said this was the biggest consignment of drug smuggling (case of 680 grams of heroin) caught in the district this year. He said during the last one month, the district police had registered eight cases of drug smuggling and arrested 16 accused.“Out of these, three cases are of commercial quantity. These include 507 grams, 254 grams and 680 grams of heroin (smack),” said Kamaldeep Goyal.
