Anti-ragging week kicks off at CDLU with rally, awareness drive

Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU) is observing anti-ragging week from August 12 to 18 in compliance with the Centre for Youth (C4Y) and the UGC National Anti-Ragging Monitoring Agency. The week began with an anti-ragging day rally today, which was flagged off by Prof Suresh Kumar Gehlawat, the university’s Dean, Academic Affairs.
Prof Gehlawat highlighted university’s efforts to combat ragging, noting that the institution has achieved a zero per cent ragging rate. He emphasised on the availability of multiple contact numbers for students to report any incident of ragging or harassment.
The rally was organised under the guidance of Prof Ummed Singh, nodal officer, anti-ragging complaints, along with Dr Rohitas, NSS programme coordinator, and Dr Rachna Ahlawat, NCC caretaker. While addressing participants in the rally Prof Singh outlined the university’s annual anti-ragging week activities designed to raise awareness among students.
The week’s goal is to empower students to stand against ragging and protect their dignity, fostering a safe and supportive campus environment.
As part of the anti-ragging week, the university will conduct various activities including poster-making, slogan writing, induction programmes and sensitisation workshops.
Dr Rohitas and Dr Ahlawat further engaged with volunteers and students during the rally while emphasising the importance of maintaining a harassment-free academic environment.
