Applicant fails to file papers due to incomplete documents in Hisar

As the process to file nomination papers for the Municipal Corporation elections in Hisar started on Monday, a candidate, Joginder Singh, who arrived to file his nomination for Ward 19, however, failed to file the papers due incomplete documents.

The district spokesperson said the nomination process would continue till February 17. The election in Hisar is scheduled for March 2.

Meanwhile, the police have made adequate arrangements to ensure a smooth process of filing the papers. Five designated locations at the Mini-Secretariat premises have been set up for the submission of nominations for the mayoral and corporation member candidates.

The spokesperson said the candidates arriving with a procession will be stopped outside the Mini-Secretariat gate and only a few individuals would be allowed inside with them.

The Municipal Corporation Commissioner has been appointed as the Returning Officer (RO) for the Urban Local Bodies polls in Hisar. Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) have also been assigned specific wards. The Additional Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation will oversee Wards 1-5, the Joint Commissioner will handle Wards 6-10, the CEO of Zila Parishad has been assigned the responsibility for Wards 11-15 while the General Manager of Haryana Roadways will oversee Wards 16-20.

For Narnaund MC elections, the Narnaund SDM has been appointed as the Returning Officer, while the Tehsildar and BDPO will serve as Assistant Returning Officers.

Meanwhile, the BJP is expected to release its first candidate list on Tuesday. Party sources revealed that the leadership is scrutinising the list of the ticket aspirants for the mayoral and MC members posts.

CEO zila parishad, Harbir Singh, said no nominations were received so far for the Hisar Municipal Corporation elections. He also mentioned that different duties were assigned to ensure the smooth conduct of the nomination process.
