CIA-2 in-charge Mohan Lal said, “A miscreant had attempted to open fire at a liquor contractor at a vend in Ladwa on Tuesday. Due to threat calls, the contractor was already provided security and after finding police personnel, the miscreant had failed in his attempt and he fled away in a vehicle in which his accomplice was waiting.”

He added, “There was input that the miscreant with two weapons is present in Bakali village, following which different teams were formed to nab him. He was spotted on Ladwa-Sambhalkha road and was asked to stop. After seeing the police party, he attempted to flee, opened fire at police personnel and in exchange of fire, the miscreant suffered a bullet injury in his leg. He was nabbed and taken to Community Health Centre, Ladwa for treatment.”

Police recovered two country-made pistols, four live cartridges and three empty cartridges from the spot. Mohan Lal further said, “The handler, who had assigned him the task, is in a foreign country. He had been getting directions repeatedly to complete the task after the failed attempt. Harvinder had also been to a foreign country in the past and had returned a few months back. After the failed attempt, Harvinder stayed with Arman, a resident of Bakali, who has come out of jail a few months back. Arman was in jail in a firing incident. A case has been registered at Ladwa police station and efforts are being made to nab the remaining accused.”
