State Cabinet minister Anil Vij yesterday inspected the vintage-era rifles provided by the Army to the Shaheed Smarak for permanent display at the memorial.
The Shaheed Smarak is being constructed to commemorate the martyrs of the first revolt in Ambala Cantonment.
During a recent meeting, the minister had requested the Army for old rifles or weapons for display at the memorial so that future generations could witness the heritage of the country's military history. Acting on his request, the Army provided five vintage rifles, which will be placed in the display gallery.
The memorial features multiple art galleries where antique weapons, military artifacts, and other items used by soldiers will be showcased for visitors.
