Health Minister Arti Singh Rao announced that the state has set a one-year target to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) under the TB-Mukt Haryana campaign. The campaign will continue until March 25, 2025, with the aim of achieving TB-free status by December 2025.
Rao urged the public to support the 100-day TB Mukt Campaign, which began on December 7, 2024, at the state level. "The Health Department teams are visiting every city and village in all districts to identify TB patients," she said. "Patients diagnosed with TB are being provided free tests and medicines under the government scheme."
The minister emphasised that the campaign reflects Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's vision of a TB-free Haryana. She urged medical officers to approach the campaign with dedication. “This is not just a duty — it’s a mission that requires full commitment,” she stated.
Rao highlighted that TB patients receive financial support under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana, where an incentive of Rs 1,000 per month is provided until treatment completion. She also called for citizens to become Nikshay Mitras, encouraging participation in the campaign through the Nikshay portal.
The minister stressed the importance of public awareness regarding TB symptoms, which include prolonged cough (lasting more than two weeks), frequent sweating, fatigue, weight loss, breathing difficulties and fever.
"Citizens must undergo health checkups if they notice any symptoms and cooperate with the health teams," she said. "With everyone’s participation, we can achieve a TB-free Haryana in the next year."
