Jhajjar, July 11
Under the aegis of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), ASHA, mid-day meal and anganwadi workers, gramin chowkidars and safai karamcharis today staged a protest to press for their long-standing demands. The workers assembled at the grain market and marched towards the Mini-Secretariat here.
They submitted a memorandum of their demands, including regularisation of services and hike in minimum wages up to Rs 26,000, along with other benefits, to the district authorities. The workers also threatened to sharpen their agitation if the demands were not met soon.
The protesters accused the state government of adopting a lethargic attitude towards their demands, adding that their demands were valid but the government was turning a blind eye towards these.
