The Fatehabad police on Friday arrested the owner of a private school at Dhani Bhojraj village after a three-day search, following a viral video showing him assaulting girl students. The accused, Subhash Chandra, was later released on bail.
The District Education Officer (DEO) has sent a detailed report to the Haryana State Women’s Commission.
SP Siddhant Jain said a student of New Jyoti High School filed a complaint on November 24, accusing the school owner of assault and misconduct. The police recorded her statement and collected evidence. Following a preliminary probe, a case was registered on December 3 under Sections 115(2) and 74 of the (BNS) and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act. Chandra was taken into custody, said the SP.
On November 28, a video emerged on social media, showing the accused dragging students, pushing them to the floor and beating them up. The footage triggered widespread outrage, with many demanding strict action for what they described as “inhumane and brutal” treatment.
On December 3, several students appeared before the DEO and accused the school owner of physical abuse and sexual misconduct, including inappropriate touching. One student told officials that he threatened them, saying: “I will hurt you in such a way that you will never become a mother.”
DEO Sangeeta Bishnoi said she had forwarded the report to the Women’s Commission, the Directorate of School Education and the district authorities.
