The Haryana Vidhan Sabha today approved a three-minute state song, ‘Jai, Jai Haryana..’, written by Dr Balkrishan Sharma, composed by Paras Chopra and sung by Dr Shyam Sharma, unanimously. Nayab Singh Saini, CM, said that now rules would be framed for its recitation.

Earlier, the committee under BJP MLA Laxman Yadav opined, “The committee examined the song’s subject matter in the context of Haryana’s glorious history, cultural heritage, geographical structure and the nation’s development journey.” It added, “The committee removed some unnecessary words from the song and incorporated a few new words as well.” The song has references to Gita, Lord Krishna, Mahabharat and even Eid and Gurpurb celebrations.

“The song encapsulates Haryana’s history by incorporating a balanced, coherent and harmonious blend of words from Sanskrit, Hindi and the present-day Haryanvi dialect. In Sanskrit, the song highlights the region’s distinctive qualities, such as hospitality and a spirit of service,” said the committee.

Former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that the song must be played before the functions in schools and colleges.
