ASSEMBLY POLL 2024: Model code in place, administration starts removing posters of political parties

After the announcement of the Assembly election in Haryana, the Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) has launched a drive to remove hoardings, posters and other publicity material of political parties from the twin cities and other areas falling under MCYJ. Besides, other material related to government publicity is being removed.
The MCYJ removed government calendars, pictures of Prime Minister, Chief Minister and ministers from all its three offices in Yamunanagar and Jagadhri.
“As soon as the code of conduct came into force after the announcement of the Assembly election, the MCYJ teams on Saturday began removing hoardings, flex boards, posters, banners, flags and cut-outs of political parties installed at various places in Jagadhri and Yamunanagar,” said Ayush Sinha, Municipal Commissioner of the MCYJ.

He said the drive would continue until all publicity material related to political parties was removed.
“I have issued strict instructions to all officials to strictly follow the guidelines of model code of conduct,” said Sinha.
The MCYJ has formed two teams, under the supervision of Assistant Municipal Engineer Rajesh Sharma, Chief Sanitary Inspectors Harjeet Singh and Sunil Dutt, for the purpose.
A team headed by CSI Harjeet Singh and Assistant Municipal Engineer Rajesh Sharma removed these materials from various places (from ward 1 to ward 11) including Jagadhri road, Ambala road, Civil Line, Railway road, Model Town, Govindpuri road.
A team headed by CSI Sunil Dutt and Sanitary Inspector Govind Sharma removed the political publicity material installed at various places from ward 12 to ward 22, including Railway road, Workshop road, Bypass road, Badhi Majra road, Radaur road, camp and other areas.
After the removal, the publicity material is being taken to the MCYJ store. Deputy Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Pal Yadav inspected the offices of the MCYJ.
