Prioritise quality education for kids: Speaker Kalyan to Karnal villagers

Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan on Monday laid foundation stones and inaugurated development projects worth around R 1.15 crore at Khiranjpur and Nalvi Kalan village in the Gharaunda Assembly segment.

Addressing the gathering, he urged villagers to prioritise quality education for children and ensure eligible citizens availed the benefits of government schemes.

At Khirajpur village, Kalyan laid the foundation stone for a sub-health centre to be constructed at a cost of Rs 55 lakh. The facility will include a wellness room, consultation room, record room, day-care centre and other basic amenities. The project is funded by the Health Department and is targeted for completion within nine months.

He also laid the foundation stone for a hall dedicated to women of self-help groups (SHGs) at the same village. With a budget of Rs 18 lakh, the hall will be constructed under the Panchayati Raj Department. The Speaker directed officials to increase the hall’s dimensions from 20x15 feet to 20x30 feet to accommodate larger gatherings and cultural events. He emphasised that the quality of construction materials must not be compromised and assured additional funding for furniture such as tables and chairs once construction is complete. The hall is expected to be ready within six months. He also inaugurated the rejuvenated village pond near Gugga Madi at Khirajpur, developed under the Model Pond Scheme at a cost of Rs 22 lakh.

In Nalvi Kalan, Kalyan laid the foundation stone for the construction of streets and drains in the Mahatma Gandhi Gramin Basti area. The project, valued at Rs 19.14 lakh, includes the construction of around 1,000 ft of streets and drainage, to be executed by the Panchayati Raj Department.

The Speaker highlighted various welfare schemes initiated by the government for the underprivileged. He said with the digitisation of essential services, pensions now reached senior citizens’ bank accounts directly.
