At Kurukshetra, Rajnath cites Gita, says nation values peace, but ready for battle

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today said that taking inspiration from the Gita, during Operation Sindoor, India gave a befitting reply to terrorists and their supporters. He was addressing the inaugural day of the International Gita Conference at Kurukshetra University.

“Bhagavad Gita offers solutions for every problem in life. It provides mental stability, courage and clarity even in the most challenging situations. To understand the soul of Bharat, one must know the Gita,” he said.

“India gives a message of peace to the world and but the reality is that power and self-confidence is important to maintain peace. Innocent tourists who had gone to Pahalgam were killed after being asked about their religion. The Pahalgam attack not only challenged India’s peacefulness, but terrorists and their supporters were also convinced that India’s decency was its weakness. But they forgot that India is the land of Gita, and possesses compassion as well as the strength to take to the battlefield,” he said.

Cabinet ministers Anil Vij, Krishan Kumar Bedi, MP Naveen Jindal, Ministry of External Affairs, Secretary, Neena Malhotra, and several renowned religious gurus attended the event.

Earlier in the day, Rajnath Singh inaugurated the main events of the Gita Mahotsav at Brahma Sarovar amid the chanting of 'shalokas'. After inaugurating the Haryana Pavilion, he said it showcased the state’s rich folk arts and cultural heritage.

He said in the holy city of Kurukshetra, there was a divine confluence of spirituality, culture, knowledge, and art.
