Attack on advocate: Sirsa Bar assn strikes work, protests police ‘inaction’
Sirsa, August 29
The District Bar Association of Sirsa went on a strike on Thursday on the court premises to protest against the police’s alleged inaction following the recent attack on advocate Mohar Singh Jhorar in Ellenabad.
As a result, all court work was suspended, with the association’s office-bearers personally overseeing the strike.
Led by president Aditya Rathore, vice-president Lucky Duggal, and secretary Jaswinder Sidhu, the strike was held to show solidarity with the affected advocate.
Spokesperson advocate Mohanlal expressed concern that despite filing an FIR, the police have not arrested the accused, raising questions about the police’s intentions. He alleged that the police, possibly under pressure, were not taking necessary action, which had caused widespread anger among the legal community.
Rathore and Sidhu warned that if the situation did not improve, lawyers across Haryana might halt work in support of their colleague.
They also mentioned that the issue would be raised before Justice Sanjay Vashisth of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, who was scheduled to inspect the district courts on August 30and they would request appropriate action.
