Attending ‘Pran Pratishtha’ at Ayodhya Temple matter of faith, Khattar takes dig at Congress

Attending 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony at Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is a “matter of faith and nobody could be forced”, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Saturday when asked about the Congress's decision to skip the programme.

“Those who wish to attend (Pran Pratishtha ceremony) are free to do so. Those who do not have the inclination are not compelled. If they lack faith, they will remain disconnected from the society," said Khattar, who was in the city to chair 'Jan Samvad' programmes in two wards.

CM’s Lohri gift to Zarifabad students

• The CM announced a government bus service as a Lohri gift to students of Zarifabad village from January 16
• He made a surprise visit to the Karnal Railway Station on Saturday night. Witnessing people in distress due to the cold, he ordered that they be shifted to a night shelter in his security vehicles
• He also proposed the renaming of Mughal Canal to Karna Canal

When asked about his meeting with AAP leader Ashok Tanwar, the CM said he regularly interacts with political leaders, including those from his own party and other parties.

During the Jan Samvad programmes, the CM listened to grievances of the public and stated that development projects worth more than Rs 2,000 crore have been undertaken in various wards of Karnal city. Besides, Khattar said one lakh more development works were on the cards.

The CM said the pace of development work got affected at times due to fewer contractors and an excessive amount of work. Contemplating on the issue, he said, the government would provide training to 15,000 young civil engineers who have just completed their education.

Khattar announced that in the coming six months, 60,000 jobs would be provided to the youth in the state and the government was helping in sending young people abroad for employment.

About 15,000 youths interested in going abroad were being trained in Rohtak, he said while stressing on the need for youth to choose the right path when planning to go abroad.

He also handed over pension approval certificates to individuals.

Khattar highlighted that around 60,000 complaints have been received through the Jan Samvad programmes on the portal. Out of these, 10,000 complaints have been resolved, he added.

The CM also ordered construction of a foot overbridge near Uchani and construction of a community center and school building in Baldi village before the next academic session. Later in the evening, he celebrated Lohri with residents of his constituency at a community hall in Sector 13.
