Awareness programme on cleanliness organised in Jagadhri
The Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) has started a number of activities to bring twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri to the top position in Swachh Survekshan.
Under the series, an awareness programme on cleanliness was organised by the MCYJ at a Jagadhari workshop.
The employees and women of the Railway Protection Special Force were explained about separating dry and wet waste and making compost from the wet waste.
The programme was chaired by Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Pal Yadav and joined by Chief Sanitary Inspector Sunil Dutt, Activity Expert of Swachh Bharat Mission Pooja and founder of ‘Ek Soch Nayi Soch’ organisation Shashi Gupta.
At the programme, Dr Vijay Pal Yadav made an appeal to the people not to throw solid waste in the open and in drains but to put it in the vehicles coming door-to-door for collecting garbage.
“In the programme, people were made aware about making compost from wet waste and using it in gardening,” said Dr Yadav.
He said they were also urged not to use single-use plastic items and polythene carry bags.
Chief Sanitary Inspector Sunil Dutt said people should cooperate with the Municipal Corporation in maintaining cleanliness.
“People's thinking is changing. They are separating dry and wet waste and putting it in corporation's vehicles. Those who still do not separate dry and wet waste and put it in corporation's vehicles, they should also develop the habit of separating waste and cooperate in making the city beautiful and clean,” said CSI Sunil Dutt.
