Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav organised at Vivekanand Manch of JC Bose University of Science and Technology
Faridabad: The Vivekanand Manch of JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, on Monday organised an enlightening lecture session to commemorate the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a year-long campaign which is being celebrated to mark the celebration of 75 years of Independence. The session was presided over by Prof Dinesh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of the university. Nandakumar , national convener of Prajna Pravah ,threw light on Indian history and culture, freedom revolt, unsung warriors and importance of Sanskrit.
‘Wall of Heroes’ gallery at institute
Faridabad: A ‘Wall of Heroes’ gallery was inaugurated at the DAV Institute of Management here. It has been set up by the patriots club of the institution to mark the 22nd anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas. The Wall of Heroes gallery depicts portraits of 21 Param Veer Chakra Awardees (highest war-time gallantry award). “We must have portraits of brave soldiers at educational institutes to create passion and enthusiasm among the youngsters and to inculcate the feeling of patriotism in them,” said officiating principal Dr Ritu Gandhi Arora. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on July 26 in honour of Kargil War heroes.
Admissions in reputed institutions
Hisar: About 20 students of the Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University have got admission in reputed institutes of higher studies, including the Indian Institute of Management (IIM). The dean students welfare, Dr Devender Singh Dahiya, said it’s a matter of pride for the students of the HAU to get admission in the top institutes of the country. The Vice- Chancellor Dr BR Kamboj stated that the counselling and placement cell of the university had been providing guidance to the students to choose right career options.
Cadets pay tribute to soldier
Kurukshetra: Cadets of the National Cadet Corps paid tribute to martyr soldier Mandeep Singh of Kupwara, by visiting his graveyard in Anthedi village of Kurukshetra district, on Kargil Diwas. Singh was a soldier in the 17 Sikh Regiment. His brother told the cadets that Mandeep fought the terrorists with great valour and killed six enemies. He kept fighting till the last breath. A total of 45 students from the NCC Army and Air Wings participated in the programme.
