The police on Tuesday took JBT recruitment scam convict Sher Singh Badshami to New Delhi to produce him there before a CBI court, which had issued his production warrant.

Sanjay Bansal, CBI Special Judge, had earlier issued the production warrant against Badshami for December 9 as his presence was required in connection with the JBT recruitment scam. But the warrant could not be executed as he was admitted to hospital.

Former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, his son Ajay and Badshami are serving a 10-year jail term in the recruitment scam case. Badshami, however, is out on parole on medical grounds.

He, along with two Gurugram residents Ishwar Singh and Karam Singh, is booked in a forgery and cheating case.

They had, in 2016, allegedly prepared a power of attorney of 48 kanals and 5 marlas (more than six acres) belonging to a resident of Khurdban village using fake documents. On the basis of the fake power of attorney, they struck a deal to sell the land to Jai Kanwar of Sonepat district.

Badshami allegedly took Rs45 lakh as earnest money from Jai Kanwar.

Nowadays, Badshami is in judicial custody lodged in the district jail here till Wednesday. Sources say Badshami has been ill since December 7. He is suffering from chest pain and dysuria.
