“Bahadurgarh has over more than 9,000 large, medium and small scale industries where around three lakh people in and outside of Haryana are employed. At present, there is an ESIC dispensary in Bahadurgarh and the ESIC beneficiaries have to go to Gurugram or to Faridabad to get treatment for serious diseases,” said Narendra Chhikara, senior vice president of the Bahadurgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI) and Footwear Park Association.

The ESIC is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. It provides full medical care in the form of medical attendance, treatment, drugs and injections, specialist consultation and hospitalisation to the employees and their family members registered under its scheme.

“The construction work of this 100-bedded ESIC Hospital was started over five years ago and now, around 90 per centof the work has been completed. The remaining work is likely to be completed by September-end. Thereafter, the government will appoint doctors in the hospital for providing free treatment to the registered employees,” said Chhikara, adding that the hospital being built at the cost Rs 68 crore was spread over five acres.

He maintained that the hospital would play a vital role in providing essential healthcare services to the employees of industries in Bahadurgarh and surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, BCCI president Subhash Jagga said since the number of ESIC card holders in Bahadurgarh and surrounding areas were considerable, they would raise the demand before the authorities to extend the hospital’s bedding capacity upto 200 in the coming days.
