The police on Monday constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the dispute between the sarpanch and a woman belonging to a backward community in Jatu Lohari village of Bhiwani district, following which the family left the village.

The family on Sunday took shelter in a dharamshala, alleging their boycott was ordered by a social panchayat following a clash with sarpanch Naresh Tanwar. A police spokesperson said delegations representing both parties met SP Sangeeta Kalia after which she set up the SIT headed by DSP Virender Singh to probe the matter.
