A couple from West Bengal adopted a girl child from Chaudhary Lakhiram Arya Jagannath Ashram here on Monday. Rohtak District Magistrate Dharmender Singh has congratulated the couple.

In a press statement issued here on Tuesday, the District Magistrate said the process of adopting the girl child had been completed under the Juvenile Justice Act (2015), Juvenile Justice Order Rules (2016) amended 2022, and the Adoption Regulation (2022), under which the couple had registered themselves on the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) portal.

The work of verification and matching of documents was done by the District Child Protection Unit.

The District Magistrate said the department would follow up with the family for two years.

He exhorted couples interested in adoption to adopt children as per rules, and not get misled by any agent.

District Child Protection Officer Kuldeep Singh, Protection Officer Poonam, adoption agency coordinator Payal and social worker Vishesh Sindhu were among those present during the finalisation of the adoption process.
