Bengaluru school overall champs at CBSE national swimming meet

700 swimmers from India and abroad participated in five-day-event

The five-day CBSE National Swimming Championship, hosted at the University Campus School of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), concluded on Sunday with Jain Heritage School, Kempapura, Bengaluru, emerging as the overall champion.

“Around 700 swimmers from 300 teams across nine zones, both domestic and international, participated in the event. A special attraction was the foreign zone as 90 participants from 30 teams from the Gulf countries participated in the event giving it an international dimension. Sixty competitions were held in four age groups. The swimmers’ technique and passion impressed the spectators in each competition,” said Manoj Hooda, organising secretary.

He said Jain Heritage School secured 82 points, followed by Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi, and DPS North Bangalore, who were tied on second spot with 66 points each.

Sanjeet S of Sunshine Senior Secondary School, Chennai, was named Best Swimmer in the Under-11 category. Jas Singh of Landmark School, Bidarahalli, was named Best Swimmer in the Under-14 category. In the Under-17 category, Sharan S of Jain Heritage School, Kempapura, was named Best Swimmer and Arjun Singh of Satya School, South City, Gurugram, was named Best Swimmer in the Under-19 category.
