Rohtak lawyers have been keeping their work suspended since September 2 against the registration of an FIR against a local advocate. Thousands of litigants have been suffering due to the suspension of court work by lawyers for more than three weeks.

As per the order issued by the Rohtak range ADGP KK Rao on Tuesday, a special investigation team (SIT) headed by Bhiwani DSP Anup Kumar would carry out further investigation in the case under close supervision of the Bhiwani Superintendent of Police.

The order comes after a formal request was made by the chairman of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, Dr Vijender Singh Ahlawat, in this regard.

The general secretary of the District Bar Association, Deepak Hooda, welcomed the decision to shift the case, but maintained that their strike would continue until the name of the lawyer was removed from the FIR.
