Bhiwani, November 8

A 6-acre lake, eight parks, including a herbal one in 8 acres, solar power-lit roundabouts with water fountains, a rest house and an auditorium. This is some infrastructure laid in Sui village of the Bawani Khera block in Bhiwani district.

The efforts of villagers which were supported by the village philanthropist and businessman based in Mumbai Shrikishan Jindal have transformed this dusty place into a new-age village. Impressed with the village, President Ram Nath Kovind has agreed to visit the place to inaugurate these facilities on November 17.

Villagers said it all started in 2016 when they showed their keenness to develop the village on the pattern of a planned city. Praveen Kumar, who was the sarpanch when the development of the village started in 2015, said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had laid the foundation stone of the works and announced to develop Sui as the first self-motivated model village of the state.

“Our efforts were supplemented and supported by co-villager Shrikishan Jindal, now settled in Mumbai. He has so far put in about Rs 25 crore for the development of the village. Now, we have all cemented streets, streetlights and a new building of the government senior secondary school which has modern laboratories and library. The water and power supply are not a problem in our village,” he said.

Another villager Ajit Singh said the auditorium had been built at a cost of Rs 6 crore which is a unique thing for the villagers. “The lake having boating facilities, herbal park and other parks have changed the atmosphere in the village as the green cover has increased in the village,” he said.

Chand Ram, another villager, said it was a matter of pride for them that the President was arriving in the village to declare our village as Adarsh village. “We are thankful to co-villager Shrikishan Jindal for the development of the village. We have all modern facilities, including a hospital and a sports stadium,” he said.

The President’s office has conveyed to the charitable trust of the Jindal family about the confirmation of his visit to inaugurate Adarsh village Sui on November 17.
