The police on Sunday booked 10 persons on the charge of attempting to take illegal possession of a land located near Kharawar village on the Rohtak-Delhi highway here. A case has been registered on the complaint of Avtar Singh Kochar, alias Doli, who runs a hotel and petrol pump near the site.

In his complaint, Kochar claimed that he bought the land over 25 years ago and the accused initially made an attempt to take its illegal possession last month. A complaint was lodged in this respect with the police at that time. Later, the tehsildar gave both the parties February 25 as the last date to resolve the issue.

“Today, a group of 10 people armed with iron rods and wooden sticks reached the site. They installed some cemented pillars there with an intention to take illegal possession over the land. When our people resisted them to do so, the accused threatened them of dire consequences,” Kocher stated in the complaint.

“We reached the spot immediately on getting the information about the incident. This is a property dispute hence we have written to the tehsildar concerned urging him to form a committee for demarcation of the land to resolve the issue,” he said.
