Bihar native tries to kill woman for rejecting marriage proposal, held

The Gurugram police have arrested a Bihar native for attempting to kill a woman after she refused to marry him. The victim sustained several injuries on March 3 in Kasan village of IMT, Manesar. An FIR was registered in this regard.

In her complaint, the 19-year-old woman said she had befriended the accused, Mintu Kumar, who took her and her friend to the Kasan temple on March 2.

“After a while, Mintu left my friend in the temple and went with me for a walk in the hills. Mintu said that he wanted to marry me but I refused his proposal, following which he got angry and pushed me down. He started kicking and punching me and hit me on the head and face with a stone. Thinking I was dead, he ran away from there. I remained lying in the hilly area the whole night and only next day, the police rushed me to hospital. Mintu had hit me with the intention to murder me,” the woman said in her complaint.

Following the complaint, an FIR was registered against the accused under various sections of the BNS.

During investigation, a Manesar crime unit team, led by Sub-Inspector Lalit Kumar, arrested the accused from Aurangabad in Bihar on Monday.

“During police interrogation, the accused revealed that he had assaulted the woman when she refused to marry him and fled the spot thinking that she was dead. We are questioning the accused,” said a police spokesperson.
