An alleged cyber fraudster, in a bid to escape from the police custody, died after he jumped off the third floor of a hotel room at Sohna town in Gurugram district on Tuesday, local police officials said on Wednesday.
Identified as Himanshu, a Bihar native, the accused was taken into custody along with three others by a MP police team on Tuesday. They all were reportedly wanted in a few cases of cyber fraud. After taking them into custody, the MP police was likely to take them to the state at night by train. The police officials from Gwalior were staying in Saffron Hotel located in front of the bus stand, Sohna.
They took Himanshu and others into custody from a housing society in Dunela, Sohna. They came back to the hotel to pack up and go back to Gwalior when Himanshu asked them to go to the toilet. However, he went to the balcony next to it. To escape from the custody, he jumped down using a wire attached to the pole in front of the balcony. But, he could not hold the wire and fell down on the ground before being dragged along the pole. During this, he also collided with the wall of an adjoining building. He suffered fatal head injuries, which resulted in his death. — TNS
