Haryana Power Minister Ranjit Singh today said the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has (UHBVN) introduced a surcharge waiver scheme, under which the consumer can take their new connection by depositing the entire principal amount of their outstanding bill in either lump sum amounts or instalments. The scheme will be applicable till November 30.
Singh said the first and second wave of Covid had affected the income of and in such a time, the UHBVN introduced the scheme to give concessions to consumers. Consumers of domestic, agricultural, HT and LT (industrial and non-domestic) categories, and consumers whose electricity connections were cut till June 30 due to non-payment of bills on time, will benefit from the scheme.
The nigam will waive the entire surcharge of the outstanding bill on payment of the principal amount in a lump sum paid by such consumers.
Consumers can also take advantage of the scheme by depositing only 25 per cent of their original amount and the balance amount can be deposited in six instalments. With this, all surcharges till June 30 will be waived on deposit of the entire principal amount.
