Bike thief linked to 12 cases held

The Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell of Yamunanagar police arrested a man for allegedly stealing motorcycles and recovered four stolen bikes from him.

The accused, identified as Gaurav alias Lahari of Bubka village, was intercepted while heading towards Uttar Pradesh via Kalanaur to sell a stolen bike. Twelve other theft cases are already pending against him.

Police spokesperson Chamkaur Singh said, “Superintendent of Police Surinder Singh Bhoria had given strict instructions to crack down on crime. Acting on these, the team arrested the accused.”

Rajesh Kumar, incharge of the cell, said, “We received a tip-off and formed a team that apprehended the suspect.” He added, “The motorcycle recovered was stolen from near Punjab National Bank, Jagadhri, on December 10, 2024.”

Gaurav also confessed to stealing two bikes from outside the court complex and one from Yamunanagar railway station. “The accused confessed to a total of four incidents of bike theft. All four stolen motorcycles were recovered from the accused,” Kumar said. He was presented before a Jagadhri court and sent to judicial custody.
