Dr RRB Singh, Director, National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), on Sunday said that the three-day workshop on “targeted proteomics” was very useful in the field of advanced proteomics and biomarker discovery which can have an important role in animal and human health.
He further said that these potential biomarkers could play an important role in disease diagnosis as well as early detection of pregnancy in cattle. He was chairing the valedictory function of the workshop during the 11th annual meeting of Proteomics Society, India.
The workshop included lectures in the area of targeted proteomics, quantitative proteomics, proteogenomics and metabolomics sessions. About 150 participants from different parts of the country attended the workshop.
The chief guest for the inaugural function was Dr AK Tyagi, Joint Director, Research. The pre-congress workshop was co-organised by Dr AK Mohanty (NDRI) and Dr Sanjeev Srivastva from IIT-Bombay.
Dr Micheal MacCoss, University of Washington, USA, delivered a lecture on basics of Skyline, followed by a lecture on quantitative proteomics by Dr Sanjeev Srivastava from IIT-Bombay.
Hands-on sessions were conducted in targeted proteomics by Dr Saicharan and Vipin from IIT-Bombay, followed by a lecture by Dr Vagisha Sharma from University of Washington, USA.
