The Principal Adviser inspected the ponds at Samani and Jhirbari village on Friday.

On the occasion, Prabhaker Kumar said, “There was a proposal from the Haryana Pond Authority to develop two ponds of Samani village in a phased manner and a budget of Rs 3 crore was passed by the government for the proposal. The objective is to develop a good tourist destination in the village situated on the NH-44. According to the proposal, in the first phase the construction work of a pond has been completed and it has been developed as a tourist destination. Now in the second phase, the second pond will be developed as a bird sanctuary.”

“A large number of migratory birds arrive here and during the development work it will be ensured that the migratory birds are not disturbed and at the same time the work is completed within the stipulated time frame. After the completion of the project, a good tourist spot will be available in the village. Native trees will be planted all around the pond and solar lights will be installed for lighting at night. Besides these, an embankment will be constructed, a pathway will be developed around the pond for walkers and benches will also be placed for the people to sit and spend time here. Since these ponds are located on NH 44, there is a lot of potential for tourism,” he added.

Prabhaker Kumar instructed the officials to stop the discharge of dirty water and release the water in the pond only after treating it. The Chief Adviser instructed the officials to expedite the work and increase the depth by removing the soil of the pond.
