BJP candidate Rekha Sharma filed her nomination for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Haryana. She is set to be declared elected unopposed after the withdrawal of candidates on December 13 as she is the only candidate in the fray.

She submitted her nomination papers to Returning Officer Ashok Kumar Meena in the presence of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, BJP state president Mohan Lal Badoli and several Cabinet ministers.

Speaking to mediapersons after the nomination, Saini said the Rajya Sabha seat became vacant after Krishan Lal Panwar was elected as an MLA to the Haryana Vidhan Sabha and now Rekha Sharma filed her nomination for this Upper House seat.
