BJP confident of third straight victory in municipal polls: CM Saini

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday exuded confidence that the BJP would win the upcoming municipal elections by a landslide, claiming a “one-sided atmosphere” in favour of the party across the state.

Addressing a massive crowd during the ‘Nomination Rally’ for BJP’s mayoral candidate Komal Saini and 26 councillor candidates, CM Saini asserted that the overwhelming turnout reflected the public’s trust in BJP policies and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantees.

“The crowd here today is proof of people’s faith in the BJP’s governance. We are heading towards a third consecutive victory in the state on March 12,” Saini said.

The rally, held at the BJP election office on NH-44, saw the presence of key party leaders, including BJP state chief Mohan Lal Badoli, Panchayat Minister Krishan Lal Panwar, Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, MLA Pramod Vij and BJP state general secretary Dr Archna Gupta.

Following the rally, a roadshow was taken out from the election office to the mini secretariat, where supporters lined the streets, showering flower petals on party leaders. Komal Saini formally filed her nomination before SDM Braham Prakash, accompanied by CM Saini and other senior leaders.

In his address, the CM urged voters to elect Komal Saini as mayor and ensure the victory of BJP councillor candidates. “Panipat holds historical, religious, industrial and business significance. A triple-engine government will accelerate development threefold here,” he said.

Saini also promised seamless development for Panipat, assuring voters that no projects would face delays. “Make Komal Saini your mayor, elect BJP councilors and leave the rest to me. Panipat will see unprecedented progress,” he asserted.

Taking a swipe at Opposition parties, the CM called the Congress a “tweet master party” with no grassroots presence and dismissed the AAP as a party with “no work to do.”

Highlighting defections from the Congress, Saini claimed, “Senior Congress leaders who’ve been with the party for 35-40 years are now joining the BJP in large numbers, trusting our vision for development.”

The CM further underscored the BJP’s achievements, stating, “Out of the 240 promises made during the Assembly elections, 18 have been fulfilled within 100 days, while 10 more are awaiting administrative and financial approvals.”

He also spoke about BJP’s municipal manifesto, which includes 21 promises focused on clean potable water, sanitation and development work in civic bodies. “These will be fulfilled on priority,” he assured.

However, despite police efforts to manage traffic during the event, the city witnessed significant jams, leading to inconvenience for residents.
