Stating that the time has come to oust the “anti-people government” of the BJP in Haryana, Congress MP from Sirsa Kumari Selja said advancing of the Assembly elections by 20 days indicated that the BJP had got whiff of its defeat.
Addressing a public meeting in Jind town today, Selja said: “The BJP is apparently scared of people. The declaration of the Assembly elections 20 days ahead of the schedule has given people an early opportunity to give a befitting blow to the BJP,” she said, indicating that the BJP was apparently scared of the declining popularity graph of the government day by day in Haryana.
Alleging that the BJP government has tried to lure the electorate by offering lollypops of hollow announcements, Selja said the BJP was answerable to its misdeeds and atrocities inflicted on the various segments of the society in Haryana during its decade-long government.
“Farmers struggled for their demands but the BJP regime not only made false assurances but also inflicted atrocities. The Dalits, backward classes and other weaker sections, like safai karamcharis, faced discrimination from the BJP government,” she said. The Congress leader alleged that the government jobs remained vacant, including those reserved for the SCs and BCs, but the state government did not care to fill these in the decade-long rule.
She alleged the BJP government had mistreated various sections of society, including Dalits, employees, backward classes, farmers, women, and traders. “This is why all sections are angry with the BJP, and the public will take revenge on October 1 with the power of their vote,” she said.
Selja said due to the BJP’s anti-people mindset, there is an outcry among all 36 communities. “She said scholarships had been stopped so that children couldn’t study, and there are scams in jobs. Youths are forced to go abroad for employment.” She urged the people that the time has come to get rid of such a government. The Congress government will be formed in the state, and after that, we will protect your interests.
Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala said, “There has been no work done in the name of development. Crime has increased to such an extent that people are living in an atmosphere of fear. Government job exams are being sold, which is why the youth do not see a bright future and are moving abroad. The BJP government has been treating farmers like enemies,” he alleged.
