Bhupinder Singh Hooda, a former Haryana Chief Minister, on Friday accused the BJP government in the state of betraying the public and not keeping the promises made during the elections.

Addressing a press conference at his residence, Hooda said the BJP government increased the power rates after the Assembly session got over. The government had increased the rates up to 40 paise per unit and implemented new slabs. By doing this, it was going to loot about Rs 5,000 crore from people, he alleged.

The government had also issued an order to recover FSA from consumers at the rate of about Rs 95 per 200 units, he said.

The government had also simultaneously increased the electricity rates for industries, Hooda said, adding that unemployment would further rise due to the migration of industries.

“Before the elections, the BJP had announced to make 1.25 lakh temporary employees permanent. But as soon as it won, it started the process of removing skilled workers. Every day hundreds of employees are being removed from service,” he claimed.

On Hisar airport, he said the Hisar and Karnal airports had got the Centre's approval during the Congress government in 2013-14, but the BJP kept the construction pending. It also delayed the Yamunanagar power plant and Kharkhoda Maruti plant approved during the Congress regime, he added.
