The BJP-JJP alliance candidates won the posts of chairpersons of Ladwa, Pehowa and Shahabad municipal bodies, while the Aam Aadmi Party also opened its account by winning the post of chairperson of Ismailabad municipal committee.

In Ladwa, BJP’s Sakshi Khurana defeated Congress-supported Independent candidate Sumit Bansal by a margin of 1,416 votes. While Sakshi got 5,818 votes, Sumit got 4,402 votes, AAP’s Anil got 4,358 votes, BSP’s Parveen got 434, and Independent Rajan got 174 votes. Along with the new chairperson, 15 ward members were also elected.

Sitting Ladwa Congress MLA Mewa Singh and several other Congress leaders were seen campaigning, but they couldn’t save Bansal from losing.

In Shahabad, JJP candidate Dr Gulshan Kwatra defeated his nearest rival Harish Kwatra by a margin of 6,475 votes. Gulshan got 12,345 votes, Congress-supported Harish Kwatra got 5,870 votes, Independent candidate Tilak Raj got 3,278 votes, BSP’s Sanjeev Kumar got 625, INLD’s Gursharan Singh got 367, while AAP’s Amarjeet Kaur got 284 votes. The newly elected body of the Shahabad MC consists of a chairperson and 19 ward members.

In Pehowa and Ismailabad, a close contest was witnessed between the BJP and AAP candidates. Pehowa MLA and Minister Of State For Sports And Youth Affairs Sandeep Singh campaigned for the BJP candidates in both the civic bodies, while several other BJP leaders also marked the presence during the campaigning. While the BJP managed to win Pehowa, it lost to AAP in Ismailabad.

In a close contest, BJP’s Ashish sharma defeated AAP’s Anil Dhawan by a margin of 55 votes in Pehowa. The BJP candidate was got 9,312 votes, AAP’s candidate got 9,257 votes, Independent candidates Geeta got 832, Surinder Goyal 564, and Arun Kumar 122 votes. Three other Independent candidates Pankaj Mittal, Kishan Singh and Baru Ram got less than NOTA. Besides the chairman, the voters of Pehowa also elected 17 ward members.

Nisha Kano defeated six candidates to win for the Aam Aadmi Party in Ismailabad. She defeated BJP candidate Pooja Garg by 101 votes. While Nisha was got1,503 votes, Pooja 1,402 votes, Independent candidates Jyoti got 1,225 votes, Harjeet got 1,015 votes, Nisha Rani got 1,003 votes, and Deepshikha and Daljeet Kaur got 927 and 879 votes, respectively. The new civic body consists of 13 ward members and a Chairperson. Deepshikha’s candidature with the backing of JJP local unit must be hurting the BJP.

In Ladwa, while Sakshi Khurana won the post of chairperson, her husband Amit Khurana, mother-in-law Kaushalya Khurana and sister-in-law Samriti Khurana became the members of the Ladwa municipal committee from Ward number 5,7 and 10, respectively.
