In a letter written to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the BJP MP has pointed out that an ambitious project of Rs 81 crore had been sanctioned under the second phase of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT-2) to augment the drinking water supply mechanism in Meham town of Rohtak district.

“I regret to state that a former chairman of the Meham Municipal Committee approached the Engineer-in-Chief of the Department of Public Health Engineering with a letter bearing fake signatures of the local municipal councillors in order to get the project’’s tender cancelled,” Jangra has stated in the letter to the Chief Minister.

Addressing a news conference at Meham today, the BJP leader maintained that when the matter came out in public domain, the former chairman somehow managed to withdraw the said letter from the department’’s office.

Jangra further alleged that many projects were being executed by the Meham Municipal Committee on the basis of fake signatures of municipal councillors.

“I urge the Chief Minister to get a vigilance probe conducted into the entire record of the Meham Municipal Committee and take strict action against the persons responsible,” he said. The Rajya Sabha MP said he had pointed out that crores of rupees had been wasted in the renovation/beautification of ponds in the Meham area without serving any purpose in a letter to previous Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar as well.
