The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is set to mark its centenary with year-long celebrations in Haryana, the ‘karmabhoomi’ of two of its most prominent pracharaks-turned-politicians — Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state’s first BJP Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar.

Payback time

Our contribution to the grand celebrations would be a sort of thanksgiving for RSS support which virtually pulled the BJP from the jaws of defeat in the 2024 assembly polls. Senior bjp leader

The ruling BJP has taken the lead in rolling out a massive outreach campaign across all 885 mandals of the state to carry its parent organisation’s message to every household. “As against the big programmes, small and more personal programmes are planned across every mandal to take ideology of the RSS to every home,” BJP state president Mohan Lal Badoli told ‘The Tribune’.

Party insiders admit the effort is more than just celebratory. “Our contribution to the grand celebrations would be a sort of thanksgiving for RSS support which virtually pulled the BJP from the jaws of defeat in the 2024 Assembly polls,” said a senior BJP leader, recalling how the Sangh’s backing helped the party script a historic hat-trick in Haryana.

The centenary events will formally begin on Dasehra, October 2. According to a senior RSS functionary, a variety of initiatives have been planned, including mass contact programmes, Hindu sammelans, training camps and seminars. A major highlight will be the ‘Griha Sampark Abhiyan’, scheduled between October 20 and November 20, under which volunteers will visit homes and distribute leaflets, stickers and books to spread the RSS’ message.

Across the country, emphasis during the centenary year will be on the ‘five pledges’: environmental protection, social harmony, family enlightenment, awakening of self-awareness and strengthening civic duty.

‘Seva Pakhwada’ to wrap up today

Meanwhile, the Seva Pakhwada (service fortnight), which began on September 17 to mark Prime Minister Modi’s birthday, will conclude tomorrow on Gandhi Jayanti. As part of the fortnight-long initiative, the BJP and RSS organised a series of social service drives, including sanitation campaigns, blood donation camps and health check-up camps across the state.
