The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary, Om Prakash Dhankar, said the entire nation would sing the national song Vande Mataram on its 150th anniversary on November 7. Addressing a press conference at the BJP office in Guru Kamal here on Wednesday, Dhankar said the Central Government would celebrate the occasion across the country by organising coordinated recitations of the song in government and private schools, colleges and institutions.
A grand rendition ceremony would also be held at the Leisure Valley Ground, Gurugram, he said.
Dhankar said on the night of August 14 in 1947, Shuchetta Kripalani sang this song before Nehru’s speech. The next morning, August 15 in 1947, it was broadcast on the radio at 6.30 am, he said, while adding that India’s national song was the most popular throughout the world.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in singing of the song Vande Mataram at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Delhi. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will participate in two events at the Chandigarh Secretariat and Ambala. BJP’s state president Mohan Lal Badoli will attend a grand programme in Sonepat, while I will attend a grand programme at the Leisure Valley Ground in Gurugram. Chief Ministers of all states will participate in national song programmes in their respective capitals. In Jaipur, a programme for 50,000 people will be held, where the song will be sung,” Dhankar said.
The event would be dedicated to the martyrs of Rezang La and the heroes of the 1857 Revolution, he said.
