Besides its manifesto for the entire state, the BJP has released its specific ‘Sankalp Patra’ for the polls of the Rohtak Municipal Corporation in which it has promised to resolve chronic issues such as traffic congestion, encroachment, waterlogging, space crunch for vehicle parking, poor maintenance of public parks and the management of stray cattle.

Interestingly, the saffron party has also made a promise to provide free Wi-Fi facility at main public places in Rohtak city so that students can easily use digital services. The elections for the positions of Mayor and councillors are scheduled to be held on March 2. The manifesto for Rohtak city was unveiled by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday.

“As promised in the manifesto, a special campaign will be launched in Rohtak city to improve the vehicular traffic system with ensuring parking lots on the Municipal Corporation land besides developing smart parking and making a provision for the vehicle parking space mandatory in new buildings. Rickshaw stands will also be established to ensure the smooth flow of vehicular traffic,” said Shamsher Kharak, state co-media coordinator, BJP.

He said the BJP was committed to strengthening the drainage system and repairing potholes on roads before the monsoon season arrived, particularly in flood-prone areas such as Mahabir Colony and Gohana Road. The party also promises to tackle encroachment by enforcing strict measures through regular inspections, ensuring public spaces are kept clear, he added.

“In terms of cleanliness, we have promised to launch a "Nirmal Rohtak" campaign, which will focus on placing steel dustbins in key wards and ensuring door-to-door garbage collection. Furthermore, illegal publicity materials pasted on public properties will be removed and the party plans to introduce the "Tarun Rohtak Mission" to develop green spaces and maintain important parks like Shri Ram Park, Agrasen Park, and Shaheed Park,” Kharak added.

He said to address the growing issue of stray cattle, the BJP proposes the "Mission Awara Pashu Prabandhan" programme, which aims at setting up additional gaushalas and manage the stray cattle menace. The manifesto also promises to create special counters for ex-servicemen and senior citizens, ensuring they can access municipal services without difficulty.

“These promises reflect the BJP's vision for a cleaner, safer and more efficient Rohtak, and the party is set to launch these initiatives following the elections on March 2,” Kharak added.
