The BJP has suffered another setback in Jhajjar with its former district chief Vikram Kadyan resigning from the primary membership of the party. He would decide the next course of action regarding the Assembly election after holding discussions with his supporters, he said.

Party fielded outsider

The last 11 days have been painful not only for me but also for all the dedicated workers of the BJP as the party has fielded an outsider in Beri constituency. — Vikram Kadyan, former Jhajjar BJP chief

Contested and lost in 2014, 2019 assembly polls

  • The saffron party fielded Sanjay Kablana in his place, just three days after he joined the party
  • Sanjay had unsuccessfully contested the previous two Assembly polls in 2014 and 2019 from the neighbouring Badli Assembly constituency

Vikram was the frontrunner for the BJP ticket from Beri but the party fielded Sanjay Kablana in his place, just three days after the latter joined the party. Sanjay had unsuccessfully contested the previous two Assembly polls in 2014 and 2019 from the neighbouring Badli Assembly constituency, though he made his presence felt by securing a considerable number of votes both the times.

Vikram had tried his fortune from Beri earlier too as a BJP nominee in the previous elections, but could not make it. He announced his move of resigning from the party by posting a video message on social media on Saturday night.

“The last 11 days have been painful not only for me but also for all the dedicated workers of the BJP as the party has fielded an outsider in Beri constituency. I was so upset by the decision that I have not attended any political programme in the last few days,” Vikram said in his video message.

The BJP leader maintained that the prevailing circumstances had forced him to take such a tough decision of resigning from all the organisational responsibilities and primary membership of the party. “The next step will be decided after discussing with my friends who supported me during my struggle,” Vikram added.

Before Vikram, BJP’s Kisan Morcha leader Amit Dighal also quit the party and jumped into the fray as an Independent. Amit too was among the ticket aspirants from Beri.
