BJP violating maryada by assigning poll duty to Dy Speaker, says Hooda
Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said the BJP leadership was violating the maryada by assigning duties in municipal elections to the Deputy Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha.
"Conventionally, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker are not given such responsibilities and this convention overrides all rules and regulations. The state BJP leadership has defied the convention and violated the maryada by putting the Deputy Speaker on duty for municipal elections," Hooda said here today.

Words like 'Harijan' and 'Dhanak' have been used along with the names of candidates in the list, which is a violation of the law…The Election Commission should get a case registered against Haryana BJP president Mohan Lal Badoli in this regard. — Bharat Bhushan Batra, rohtak congress mla
In response to another query, the Congress leader said the state is being ruled by an "airy-fairy" BJP government which has failed to perform and provides only lip service.
“The BJP did not do any worthwhile development work in the past 10 years of its tenure, nor does it have any achievement worth mentioning in the first 100 days of its third term,” he said.
Hooda said the BJP wanted to defer the municipal elections, but had been forced to conduct these due to court's orders.
The former CM said the Congress had urged the Election Commission to conduct the municipal elections in Haryana with ballot papers, as was done in Uttarakhand.
Surprisingly, the Election Commission not only rejected the Congress' demand, but now it is being heard that the VVPAT mechanism will also not be installed with EVMs. This would amount to an open defiance of the Supreme Court's orders,” he said.
Hooda said the BJP regime had no accomplishments worth mentioning in the entire state. “The BJP government has failed to provide even drinking water to the people. The roads and sewerage system are in a bad condition. Forget about building new roads, this government has failed to get the old ones repaired and maintained,” he stated.
The Congress leader pointed out that a former BJP MP (who is now a Cabinet minister in Haryana) had himself exposed a scam of Rs 300 crore in the AMRUT scheme.
"Scams worth hundreds of crores have taken place under the BJP government in Gurugram and Faridabad municipal corporations as well,” he alleged.
