BJP leaders and workers staged a protest in Karnal and Kaithal district headquarters on Tuesday. They burnt effigies of AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi. They protested the remarks of Kejriwal that the BJP-ruled government was mixing “poison” into the Yamuna to disrupt Delhi’s water supply ahead of the elections, a charge BJP leaders strongly refuted. Later, Atishi also supported the statement of Kejriwal and blamed the Haryana Government for draining industrial waste into the river.

Get FIR lodged against him, Demands AAP state ex-chief

  • Former president of the Aam Aadmi Party’s Haryana unit Naveen Jaihind has condemned the party’s national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, over his remark regarding the alleged poisoning of the Yamuna water going to Delhi by Haryana.
  • Addressing the media at Rohtak on Tuesday, Jaihind said, “CM Nayab Singh Saini has stated that a defamation case would be filed against Kejriwal. Instead, an FIR should be registered against him and he should be arrested.”
  • Jaihind, who now runs a voluntary social organisation called ‘Jaihind Sena’, alleged that Kejriwal wanted to get donations from private water suppliers by levelling allegations regarding poisoning of water.
  • He demanded laboratory testing of the water going from Haryana to Delhi to get to bring out the truth.

BJP MLA Jagmohan Anand led the protest at Committee Chowk and condemned Kejriwal’s statement, calling it “baseless”. He said, “The Yamuna river, which Kejriwal once used as a political tool to gain power in Delhi, is now being used to make false allegations against a democratically elected government.”

“Such statements mislead the public and tarnish the image of an honest leader like Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and the BJP government which has completed 100 days of its third term,” said Anand. He demanded that both Kejriwal and Atishi should issue a public apology.

In Kaithal, BJP workers assembled at the party office, where district president Munish Kathwad criticised the Delhi Government’s handling of Yamuna pollution. He said, “The Delhi Government has failed to clean the Yamuna and instead blames Haryana. Delhi dumps waste into the Yamuna. Before accusing others, the Delhi government should look at its own failures.”
