BJP's district unit secretary in Hisar booked for selling spurious fertiliser
The Hisar police have registered a case against Kuldeep Delu, sarpanch of Chaudhariwali village in the district, and his brother Sunil Delu for selling spurious fertilisers. Kuldeep Delu is the secretary of the district unit of the BJP.
According to information, the FIR has been registered under Section 19 of the Fertilizer Control Order-1985 on the recommendation of Dr Priyanka, Quality Control Inspector (QCI), Agriculture Department.
The police said that a truck carrying around 436 bags of DAP fertiliser reached Sarpanch Kuldeep Delu’s Maruti Kisan Seva Kendra Petrol Pump on July 17. Farmers alleged that the bags were sold for Rs 1,500 each through black marketing. They said the weight of bags was uneven, raising suspicion about the fertiliser’s authenticity.
However, some farmers complained to the Tehsildar, police and the Agriculture Department on July 20 after which the QCI Dr Priyanka and Assistant Plant Protection Officer Arun Yadav collected samples of the fertlisers from Adampur and sent them to a Karnal laboratory which confirmed that the fertiliser contained no DAP content, which means soil was being sold in the name of fertiliser.
Adampur police station in-charge Harish Chandra confirmed that a case had been registered based on the Agriculture Department’s report and the lab findings.
Kuldeep Delu, however, denied wrongdoing stating that he received a call about the fertiliser truck and distributed the bags in the village. “Later, some farmers complained the sacks were underweight and suspected the fertiliser was fake. Within an hour, we asked farmers to return the bags and refunded their money,” he said.
