As the municipal election campaign comes to an end on Friday, the political atmosphere in Sirsa become surcharged. Over the last seven days, both BJP and Congress have gone all out to rally support for their candidates. On the final day of campaigning, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will hold a roadshow in support of BJP candidates. According to the BJP sources, the roadshow will begin at Nehru Park and pass through Jagdev Singh Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Bhagat Singh Chowk, Parshuram Chowk, Dak Khana Road, and Lal Batti Chowk, before ending at Sangwan Chowk, where the BJP office is located. The BJP candidates and leaders will join the Chief Minister during this event.

Meanwhile, there is growing speculation that one of the candidates for the chairperson's post might drop out and support the BJP at the last moment. Sources say that this candidate has already been in talks with NDA leaders. The news has sparked discussions all over the city, as the candidate had earned trust in many wards.

Congress MLA Gokul Setia interacts with the media during the campaigning for party candidate Jaswinder Kaur.

During the campaign, both parties have focused on different issues. The BJP leaders have been emphasising “development” as their central message, while Congress leader Gokul Setia has made "corruption" the key issue. Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP) supremo Gopal Kanda, during his campaign, dismissed Setia's claims as mere “nonsense.” Kanda pointed out that on one hand, there's talk of development, while on the other, it's all about “nonsense.” He urged the public to choose between progress and empty words, stating that if they wanted development, they must support the BJP, as it was the ruling government in the state and country.

In response, Gokul Setia, addressing his supporters, countered Kanda's accusations by listing his own contributions. Setia explained that he had personally visited every ward, noted down the issues, and had officers create estimates for works in each area. He stated that all these tasks were done with proper procedures and not just as empty promises.

Ahead of the Chief Minister's visit, the police administration has ramped up security across the city. Around 1,400 police officers will be stationed throughout Sirsa, ensuring that no black flags are shown during the roadshow. Officials in plain clothes will also be present to monitor the crowd closely, a precautionary move after a security breach during a recent campaign in Faridabad.

The BJP has spared no effort in ensuring victory for its candidates, sending three of its ministers to campaign in Sirsa.

Meanwhile, the Congress’s campaign is primarily driven by MLA Gokul Setia. Despite the intense competition, many are wondering how voters will react to the absence of VVPAT machines in the elections, as this could create uncertainty about the actual voting process.
