BJP’s Mahesh Naagar wins Ambala Sadar Ward-24 unopposed
BJP candidate Mahesh Naagar has won unopposed from Ward-24 of the Ambala Sadar Municipal Council after the nomination of his only opponent, Independent candidate Kiran, was rejected during scrutiny on Tuesday.
Only two nominations were filed for the ward — one from BJP’s Mahesh Naagar and the other by Independent candidate Kiran. However, during the scrutiny, Kiran’s nomination was rejected due to not meeting the educational qualification criteria, making Naagar the sole candidate and automatic winner.
According to officials, 114 nominations were filed across 32 wards, of which 113 were accepted. For the post of chairperson, five candidates had filed nominations, but Independent candidate Mamta Rani’s nomination was also rejected due to educational qualification criteria. The remaining four candidates are still in the race.
Following the announcement, Cabinet Minister Anil Vij congratulated Mahesh Naagar on his unopposed victory. BJP workers and supporters gathered at the party office in Ambala Cantonment to celebrate in the evening.
