BKU activists block Saharanpur-Kurukshetra road

Seek construction of damaged road in Damla village

Under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Tikait group), farmers today blocked the Saharanpur-Kurukshetra road in Damla village of Yamunanagar district, demanding the construction of a damaged road.

Subhash Gurjar, district president of the BKU, said that several stretches of the Saharanpur-Kurukshetra road in Damla village were damaged, causing inconvenience to commuters. He said accidents were also taking place on the damaged stretch.

Upon receiving information regarding the road blockage, officials of the local administration, including DSP Rajiv Miglani; SHO of Sadar police station, Yamunanagar, Krishan Kumar; Radaur

Tehsildar Ashok Kumar; and PWD XEN Puneet Mittal, reached the spot.

Gurjar said they had lifted the blockade after the XEN assured them that the patch work of the road would be carried out by August 15. “If this stretch is not repaired by August 20, we would be forced to take to streets,” he said.
