Board exams end, big dip in cheating cases
The Board of School Education Haryana, Bhiwani, has successfully concluded the classes Xth and XIIth board exams. There is a significant decline in cheating cases compared to previous years.
Board Chairperson Dr Pawan Kumar informed that a total of 599 cheating cases were recorded and 16 FIRs were registered against 135 persons involved in exam malpractice.
He said the answer sheet evaluation would begin on April 2 for Class X and April 4 for Class XII and assured that the results would be announced on time. He said that around 5.16 lakh students appeared at 1,433 exam centres. Now, 126 assessment centres have been set up for evaluation of papers — 78 for Class X and 48 for Class XII.
The Board Chairperson said that this year recorded the lowest number of cheating cases in four years — 918 in 2024, 1,813 in 2023 and 3,570 in 2022.
Besides, the exams were cancelled at only 10 exam centres, a sharp decline from 29 in 2024, 40 in 2023 and 64 in 2022. The board chairperson credited QR codes, alphanumeric codes and online monitoring for helping in curbing cheating.
Regarding the preparation for the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET), he said that the board is fully prepared to conduct the Common Eligibility Test (CET) and would soon decide on the HTET.
He informed that the board has opted for offline evaluation this year due to cost concerns as online assessment incurred an extra Rs 35 per answer sheet with a total extra cost of Rs 12 crore annually.
