Body of newborn girl found near drain in Fatehabad dist

The body of a newborn girl was found near a roadside drain at Chandpura village under Jakhal block of Fatehabad district on Wednesday.

Villagers, who spotted the body, called the police. A Dial 112 team and Station House Officer (SHO) Suresh Kumar reached the spot. Considering the seriousness of the case, a Scene of Crime team from Jind was also called in to collect evidence from the site.

According to locals, some villagers, who had gone out for a morning walk, noticed something suspicious near the drain. On going closer, they found the body of the newborn girl. They promptly informed Jakhal Police Station.

The police cordoned off the area and started investigation. SHO Suresh Kumar said they were investigating the matter. Dr Rajesh Kranti, a senior Health Department official, also visited the site and discussed the case with the police.
